Andrew Sutherland

I am the founder of Quizlet.com, a vocabulary learning tool that's really fun and efficient. I started it for my French class in my sophomore year of high school, and I've been working on it ever since. It now has over a million registered users and a really smart team running it full time out of an office in San Francisco.

During the school year I am a full-time student at MIT, majoring in computer science and (probably) minoring in education. My comp-sci interests are in voice recognition and large-scale systems. I am also passionate about education and tackling the enormous challenges we face in education in the U.S. and the world.

In 2009 I partnered with Dave Margulius to form Old School Industries LLC, which now runs Quizlet and another terrific website, CollectorsWeekly.com. I am the President and CTO of Old School, where I oversee product development and technology on both sites. We're a fast-growing startup and it's been very rewarding to watch the team grow from 2 to 12 in the last year.

I grew up in Albany, CA, and am now living between Cambridge, MA and San Francisco, CA. I am 20 years old.
